CUE Haven

CUE Haven is a former dairy farm which has been restored to native bush by the community. Volunteers have planted over 170,000 native trees and built over 3 km of walking tracks.

At the top of the property is a viewing platform that provides beautiful views of the Kaipara Harbour. The mission statement of CUE Haven is to provide the community with a place to enjoy nature and disconnect from technology and to learn about nature and each other.

Throughout the property on the walking tracks we have established rest areas with benches and each rest area has been given a name in Te Reo. The local iwi, Ngāti whātua o Kaipara, have been intimately involved with the project and use CUE Haven for special events and education and have helped the trustees and advisors of the CUE Haven Community Trust, a NZ registered charity, to be good kaitiaki.

CUE stands for "Cultivating Understanding and Enlightenment." CUE Haven is located in a part of rural Auckland that is growing and currently underserved by public green spaces. CUE Haven's trust deed specifies that there should never be a fee for entry to enjoy the bush because we want to ensure that everyone can enjoy a walk in the bush without having to pay.
